AGR CATALYST RECOVERY (AGR-CR) Industrial Recycling from the experts

London Chemicals & Resources Limited (LCR) is proud to announce its partnership with AGR S.A. in a new spent catalyst processing facility AGR Catalyst Recovery (AGR-CR).

This new facility already has licenses and permits in place and is located in Logrezana, between Aviles and Gijón in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain, the administrative and commercial centre for the region.

It is often said the strength of the British chemical industry is under-appreciated – so to see London Chemicals & Resources (LCR) so high on this year’s list is encouraging. The firm, which moved to its head office in Westerham in 2009, is an international distributor and supplier of chemicals and metals for industry. And over recent years its growth has been significant, seeing revenues leap by more than 323% over the last three years – fuelled in part by a focus on recycling industrial materials. Such a rate would have put it at number one in last year’s Mega Growth 50 list, but for this year, it has to settle for a still impressive second place.

The downturn in oil prices has caused many refiners to look at areas of the business where efficiency could be increased and / or savings made.

The recycling of spent catalyst is an area that for a long period of time had kept a very low profile. Metal prices were favourable and although returns were small in comparison to earnings from oil production, the spent material had a positive value, buyers were readily available and the disposal of the spent catalyst was not a cause for concern. However the importance of environmentally sound recycling options has grown significantly in recent years due to the pressure both legislatively and environmentally. National and international requirements for spent catalyst generators have forced refiners to comply with increasingly restrictive legislation.

PRC Europe is an annual international downstream oil and gas event, a part of BGS Group PRC series which extends its coverage to Russia, CIS, Europe and other regions. The Congress brings together industry leaders who are upgrading their business models and switching to new technologies.

The downstream sector is in continuous evolution, and European refining industry is unceasingly facing different challenges: stream of changes in product demand and ever-more-stringent environmental regulations. Making adjustment of business processes to remain competitive in different scenarios requires more flexibility and best cost-saving solutions from the whole value chain.
