Vanadium Ash
London Chemicals & Resources Ltd (LCR) is an international distributor, stockist and supplier of industrial inorganic chemicals including vanadium ash.
Vanadium ash, often referred to in the context of “oil fly ash” or “heavy oil fly ash,” is a byproduct generated from the combustion process of certain types of crude oils in power stations. These crude oils are characterized by a high content of heavy metals, including vanadium and nickel.
The term “vanadium ash” specifically refers to the portion of this oil fly ash that contains vanadium. Vanadium is a valuable metal used in various industrial applications, including steel production and the creation of certain alloys.
Due to its high vanadium content, efforts have been made to extract and recover vanadium from oil fly ash. This process not only provides a source of this useful metal but also helps to reduce the environmental impact of disposing of the ash.
However, because of the presence of other heavy metals and potentially harmful substances, careful handling and treatment of vanadium ash are required to prevent environmental contamination and potential health hazards.

What is Vanadium Sulfate?
Vanadium sulfate is a white or yellowish crystalline powder composed of vanadium and sulfuric acid. It has an empirical formula of V2(SO4)3 and is most commonly used in industrial applications such as the production of pigments, catalysts in chemical processes, and in dyes for colouring fabrics.
In addition to its uses in industry, vanadium sulfate has several other applications. In medicine, it can be used to treat iron overload disorders such as hemochromatosis. Studies have also indicated that it has potential therapeutic use for patients with diabetes due to its ability to lower the concentration of glucose in their blood.
It can also be employed as an oxidant in some laboratories. When combined with hydrogen peroxide or chromic acid, it can generate various forms of oxygen which are beneficial in chemical reactions. Finally, it is sometimes used as a source of vanadium ions which can act as reagents or catalysts in organic synthesis.
Overall, vanadium sulfate is a versatile compound that is widely utilised within many industries due to its varied practical applications. From pharmaceuticals to research laboratories and more, this chemical could prove invaluable for businesses seeking new solutions that maximize efficiency and effectiveness across multiple sectors.
